Sopranos Video funny

Joe and Ryan worked a few hours, and made a funny little edit to the oh-so-hyped "Sopranos" season ending episode.

They put it up on you tube kind of as a laugh, and sent the link to some of their friends.
They got a nice review from nymag who said it was their 'favorite of the bunch' of alternate endings.

:)

Nice job boys!

This American Life, TV style

I am a big fan of the radio show "This American Life" - I have been for a while. Sometimes it's sad, sometimes it's silly, but for the most part it's usually very interesting. My mom, dad, daughter, and I still laugh about the squirrel who gets stuck in an attic, and how hard the police try to help get it out, and how wrong that scenario turns out.

Perhaps needless to say, I was thrilled when they started offering a free podcast (iTunes link) of the show. Now, even though Sirius dropped PRI from it's lineup (boo!), I can still listen to TAL every week.

For a long time now, I've thought about creating a TV show that was like TAL, except with pictures. So imagine my surprise when I see that they've finally decided to make their own TV show. They've posted some trailers for it up on their site, and I watched them and am now even more excited. Their vision for the show was way better than mine.

The cinematography looks amazing, and the glimpses of the stories they show look like they are 100% the same that are on the radio. I can't wait to watch these when the get on the air.

The only trouble is that I don't really watch TV anymore. I stopped so I could have more time to do other things. I also don't have a subscription to Showtime - and I don't see that changing anytime soon. So, for now, I'll just know that there is a TV show out there that I would like to watch... maybe I'll watch for the torrent, or just wait for the inevitable DVD to come out, and watch them then.

artwork

Just looked over my pal's latest web artwork page and it's fantastic!

Check his stuff out @ http://blogdiss.weblogs.us/artwork/

I _wish_ I could doodle this well. Perhaps I have some other kind of hidden skill that I have yet to discover... do you think wasting time on the internet counts as a skill? Or perhaps an inability to leave a crashed mac alone? Maybe the latter... Oh, I know what it must be... the ability to watch _any_ movie, and usually enjoy it... and promptly forget everything in the plot within 2 or 3 days.

That's it, my super power is the ability to watch any movie for the second time and not realize that I've seen it before until about half way through!

hipster music

I know I haven't posted for a bit. But figured I would again.
I don't have the patience to be a writer who goes over and over what I write correcting it... but figured I'd put up a couple of links that I want to remind myself of later on.

First off - a second - better? - social music community: Musicmobs --- and my page there: http://www.musicmobs.com/user/vashremix

Then - a link to a site that I got obsessed with over the weekend, and read most of it... http://www.dooce.com/faq.html

I found her very interesting to read.
I don't know that I've ever been interested in reading someone else's journal online before. It's kind of weird. In a way I'm worried that I'm somehow now a stalker - even though I only read what she posted online for _anyone_ to read... I guess that 'anyone' would include me... but it's still weird.
Perhaps I related to what she wrote about too much. Not all of it. Just some.

Later.

let the madness begin

Let the photo madness begin.
I think from this point on out I'm going to try and post 1 picture per day.

I'm starting with this one, which is a tweaked one from the same series of walking around and trying to capture motion with a still camera. It's a subway exit into grand central terminal at rush hour. I like how iPhoto managed to really massage this picture into a whole deep and rich look. I'm quite impressed with iPhoto right now. It's a bit too simple sometimes, but it keeps me from having to fire up photoshop for just some simple levels adjustments and gamma shifting. My biggest gripe with photoshop right now is it's 'activation' scheme. I hate crap like this. In fact I hate it so much, I'm going back to CS1 without any second thoughts. I liked the 'bridge' software that they came out with... but I can't stand being assumed a software pirate. In fact - apparently I'm a 'casual pirate' because I use more than one computer and only purchase software for one of them. But after the joy of having a motherboard replaced by apple (free - thank you very much apple) and then being told by some of the software makers that I had bought software from that it was a 'second' computer, and I'd have to buy their software again, because it locked to the ethernet port... well. Let's just say I don't care so much about software company's rights to make profits at my expense.

But that's way too much bitching about software... back to the photos. Without further ado, I give you "exit2":

fix er up er

Lest you think I'm nothing more than a vitrol of hatred... or a fiery ball of anger... or anything near that negative... you should know that I spent most of my evening laughing. Laughing at some of the finest theatre ever recorded. Improv Everywhere. I would have done anything to be in the subway when the pantsless men purchased their pants back.

Welcome to NY!

Stay awhile!
I think that working near NYU makes for being in a great location. Most of these stunts seemed to happen right on my work 'turf'. Somehow that makes it even better. (As far as I'm concerned.)

I'm finally getting back to being myself after being sick for like 4 days. Nothing beats HAVING to breath though your nose - and having it stuffed. Oh, nice. I always try to do the same thing when I'm sick - just go 'coma' and hopefully wake up when it's over. I need a new bed. This one's a bit to uncomfortable anymore. And it's too big without you! :) Yeah, I listened to radio in the 80's -- didn't you?! So after spending about way too long in it though - I think I really need to get a softer bed. Maybe I will.

So what the hell is up with MTV? What happened to the 'Music' part of the TV? Even MTV2 has been co-opted by the 'real life' take-offs. Enough! I can live my own drama filled life. In fact, I do. Don't get me wrong - 'Viva La Bam' might be the best thing on TV next to 'Team Sanchez' and 'The Shield' and '24' --- oh boy... I'm sounding like a junkie listing all my favorite drugs.

Television drug of a nation.

Disposable heroes of Hypocracy. Dig it. They remind me of Public Enemy.

Public Enemy still rules - although I don't get Flava Flav's new thing... at all. I think Chuck D's still real though. Sorry Flav. I'm just confused. I've never been famous you understand. I don't anticipate it any time soon either. So I probably won't get it for quite a bit.

Perhaps that's enough rambling for the evening. - Yeah, time flies when you're typing and watching TV. Wow - a punk version of the Jessica Simpson show. Thanks mtv for that brilliant glimpse into reality. Let me put my thing down, flip it, and reverse it.

oh goody!

gotta love this one ---

In a nutshell, the story breaks down as follows: the TSA secretly obtains travel data on citizens from commercial airlines, lies about it, and then happily spreads that data around to various third parties with minimal, and in some cases zero, oversight on how that data was being used. Your tax dollars at work!

The TSA lied...
ah, home sweet homeland.

just in time for Vegas

Well, just in time for the NAB show in Vegas!
BBC - Science & Nature - Horizon
I still want to understand how the roulette calculations are working. That one seems the most fun to figure out how to beat.
Not that I would mind you - but it's fun to dream.

still annoyed

I'm still pissed about losing all of my digital pictures for the past 2 years. I hadn't realized how many I'd taken. Why the F didn't I backup?!
WHY?!
I'm furious about it. Or sad... sometimes I can't always tell the difference between the two. Sometimes it depends on how late in the day it is. I was sad earlier. Now I'm furious. Not quite sure why the change.
I had great night time blur shots - I had great Ivy shots - shots of us at the Thanksgiving day parade blowing up balloons - her eating at a diner on the upper west side - night time vegas pictures that I was quite fond of. Plus all the Moab pictures. just gone. Aaaaargh!
I went to change the css on this site today, and to change the picture in the banner on top - and then I remembered that I don't _have_ it anymore... so I put in some night time shot of the moon and a church through trees that I shot a couple of nights ago.
But I'm not happy with the color scheme of it. And it's affecting all of the rest of my colors --- so I have to try and re-make somehow a picture I took with my cell phone of a ride that doesn't exist anymore. How's THAT for daunting?!
Well, turns out I'm glad that I at least have _that_ picture sitting on my flckr account. Guess I'll download it and tweak it sometime soon. Yeah, this orangy-red thing is too autumn for me right now. Too earthy.

cheap DVDs!

FInally - we'll all be able to get DVDs for cheap! CDs can't be far behind! ..... what? where?.....

What do you mean ONLY IN CHINA!?

Apparently, in order to combat the 'rampant piracy' in China that one hears so often about in our newspapers and TV news here at night here in the good - ol - US of A - movie studios are going to offer 'basic versions' of movies.
They won't have any of the DVD extras that we get here in the US - but will come out right after the movie is released.

How come they aren't doing this in the US? Guess cause they aren't feeling the squeeze from the pirates here in the US. So... do you think this sends the right message?
I mean - would we get cheaper DVD movies here in the US if there were more 'pirates' selling bootleg videos? How will the movie studios make money selling $3 DVDs?

Here's another thing that kind of bugs me about this 'chinese pirates' that I hear about --- China has no copyright law that is similar to the law in the US.
So how exactly are these people selling these 'pirates'?
They are NOT doing anything illegal in their country. It's just the US laws that say it's illegal. I don't know all of China's laws, but I do know that I, as an American citizen, am not respected to follow them. Why should they be expected to follow OUR laws over there?

I must be a commie bastard for even thinking things like this. Or maybe even a terrorist.

How dare I question the greatest country in the world's laws?!

About F_ing time!

Stupid CIhost.com ---
They've had our work server down for over a week instead of the 1 hour they promised - to get rid of the 'hack' that their low security let in.
The site's been 'UP' but not modify-able. In fact - I can't even get in to evilblender's mysql database with anything other than the root password.
Seems to me that's a 'bad idea' --- can I copyright that? Or at least patent it. Maybe I could make a million when the stock goes public.
Guess I should be glad I can at least edit this site again - but, honestly, do you really think I'm going to let the office keep on hosting at CI anymore?
