something electronic

Finally, a post about something electronics related again!
An open source hardware project that will let you interface your real-life resistors etc. with a computer via USB... the best part... the price - $30!
The Arduino board
Ryan and I were trying to use something like this board for hooking up resistors to midi inputs on his computer running Max/Msp - and the project kind of went nowhere... The board he had bought was easily over $100!
This board is the kind of thing that makes me interested in physical computing again.

I'll admit though - learning the 'processing' language strikes me as a bit daunting. I have learned Basic, but not really any C... with all the 'int's and 'void's it strikes me as a bit intimidating.

However, I would still like to build the project where we set up all kind of variables around the office and have them influence drones that come out of our speakers. I can envision the hardware part of it without too much trouble -- it's the software coding that I have a feeling would slow me down quite a bit.

music related

Thinking about it a bit - I had started this to try and share things I found interesting - music I liked - movies - stuff like that... maybe even some things I made.
Well, I'll have to start doing more of that - perhaps less reading of what other folks are writing (can't hurt... I might be in inbox overload -- http://www.43folders.com reference!)

So I am really really liking http://www.pandora.com for making my own stations and I'm trying to purchase the music in iTunes, but they don't sell it... so I went over to the amazon link - and decided I'd recommend one of my favorite albums (right now anyways!)
I'm really digging Pendulum's Hold your Color It's a pity they don't let you listen to any of it!
But here's a cool little link that you can enjoy from pandora! It's my drum and bass radio station - dig it. There's no guarantee that you'll hear any pendulum... but it'll give you a flavor of them I hope.

artwork

Just looked over my pal's latest web artwork page and it's fantastic!

Check his stuff out @ http://blogdiss.weblogs.us/artwork/

I _wish_ I could doodle this well. Perhaps I have some other kind of hidden skill that I have yet to discover... do you think wasting time on the internet counts as a skill? Or perhaps an inability to leave a crashed mac alone? Maybe the latter... Oh, I know what it must be... the ability to watch _any_ movie, and usually enjoy it... and promptly forget everything in the plot within 2 or 3 days.

That's it, my super power is the ability to watch any movie for the second time and not realize that I've seen it before until about half way through!
